CRISTIANO RONALDO has sent a touching message to a Venezuelan boy who lost everything in a recent earthquake.

Ronaldo, 41, sent young Andres words of encouragement, before inviting the boy to meet him.

Ronaldo is believed to have seen a message from the child and decided to reach out.

The video shows the young boy being shown Ronaldo's reply, with a heartwarming smile taking over his face.

It is not known whether the boy's family survived the natural disaster.

Two devastating earthquakes hit the South American country on June 24.

The major tremors, measuring 7.2 and 7.5 in magnitude, rocked the country and sank buildings along the coast.

The quakes occurred just 39 seconds apart and less than 25 km beneath the surface, making the 7.5 tremor the strongest to hit the country in over a century.

The death toll from Venezuela's devastating twin earthquakes has risen to 2,645, with more than 12,600 injured, according to official figures released on Friday.

Ronaldo has sent the message to the young fan hot on the heels of knocking Croatia out of the tournament and heading into the last 16.

The 41-year-old scored his 146th international goal in the 2-1 win and took his career tally to 976 goals.

A showdown with Spain in the last 16 awaits, but it's not known whether young Andres will make it out for the World Cup while he recovers in hospital.

It might be that he ends up heading to Saudi Arabia to watch Ronaldo in action for Al-Nassr.
