7M - Harry Kane Reaches Historic 72 Goals This Season

England captain Harry Kane extended his incredible goal-scoring form by netting a decisive brace in a 2-1 comeback win against DR Congo at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The victory secured England a spot in the knockout stage and pushed Kanes combined seasonal tally for Bayern Munich and England to an astonishing 72 goals during the 2025/26 campaign. Of those, 61 goals were scored for his club side, Bayern Munich, while 11 were struck for his country.

With this milestone, Kane became only the second player in football history to cross the 70-goal threshold in a single season for club and country. He surpassed Cristiano Ronaldos career-best mark of 69 goals, leaving only Lionel Messi's legendary 82-goal campaign from 2011/12 ahead of him.

The double against DR Congo also elevated Kanes standing in tournament history. He has now accumulated 13 career FIFA World Cup goals, overtaking Peles total of 12. Additionally, Kane has scored five goals in the 2026 tournament so far, putting him in a strong position for the Golden Boot. As England advances, this historic 72-goal season further strengthens Kanes individual legacy and his contention for the Ballon dOr.
