Newcastle 'optimistic' of agreeing deal for Swiss World Cup breakout Manzambi

Newcastle are reportedly 'optomistic' they'll be able to agree a deal to sign Switzerland and Freiburg sensation Johan Manzambi.

It’s been a tricky start to the transfer window for Newcastle, with Anthony Gordon having already left for Barcelona and Sandro Tonali set for Tottenham.

On the bright side, Eddie Howe’s side have made a reported 3170 million on these two sales and will look to reinvest this summer.

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Newcastle are now ‘optomistic’ they’ll be able to strike a deal for Freiburg’s Swiss star Manzambi, 20.

The midfielder has had a sensational World Cup so far, scoring three goals and providing one assists across his three games.

Although he was largely used as a defensive midfielder by Freiburg, Manzambi is incredibly versatile and can also be deployed further up the field or on either wing.
