Virgil van Dijk emerges as shock target for Ruben Amorim's AC Milan rebuild

Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has reportedly emerged as a shock target for Ruben Amorim at AC Milan.

Former Man United boss Amorim, 41, is the man tasked with returned AC Milan to their former glory after failing to qualify for the Champions League for the past two seasons.

The Italian side have already broken their transfer record in order to bring in striker Goncalo Ramos from PSG for a reported €80 million including potential add-ons.

Now, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, AC Milan are now looking to sign Van Dijk, 34, to help add some stability at the other end of the pitch.

Van Dijk remains under contract at Liverpool until the end of 2026-27 and his wages could prove to be a major stumbling block for AC Milan.

Sporting’s Goncalo Inacio is also being lined up by Amorim’s side as a potential €40m alternative.
