Erling Haaland fired Norway into a round-of-16 showdown with Brazil by netting an 86th-minute winner against Ivory Coast.

The Manchester City forward, who was rested during Norway's 4-1 group-stage defeat to France in Boston last Friday, took his World Cup goal tally to five in three matches, moving him within one goal of Lionel Messi in the race for the tournament's Golden Boot.

Haaland's late strike extended his remarkable run of scoring in every competitive game for Norway since October 2024—a streak that has produced 25 goals in 13 appearances.

Norway had taken a first-half lead when RB Leipzig winger Antonio Nusa curled a stunning effort past Ivorian goalkeeper Yahia Fofana in the 39th minute.

Erling Haaland tapped in from close range to restore Norway's advantage late on.

But Manchester United winger Amad Diallo levelled the scores in the 74th minute with a brilliant solo goal, keeping Ivory Coast in contention.

Haaland had been relatively quiet until that point, but the 25-year-old once again delivered for his country when he turned in Patrick Berg's pass from close range four minutes from full time.

Norway now head to MetLife Stadium for their clash with Brazil, and they go into the fixture having never lost to the Selecao in four previous meetings, with their only World Cup encounter ending in a 2-1 victory for Norway back in 1998 in France.
