7M - Manuel Neuer Matches Unwanted All-Time World Cup Record

Germany goalkeeper Manuel Neuer made unwanted history during the 2026 FIFA World Cup round-of-32 match against Paraguay. When Julio Enciso scored for the South American team in the 42nd minute, Neuer matched an all-time negative record by conceding a goal in 10 consecutive World Cup games.

This long-standing record was originally held exclusively by Mexican football legend Antonio "La Tota" Carbajal, who established the streak between 1950 and 1962. Neuer's current run began after his last clean sheet against France during the 2014 quarterfinals in Brazil. Since then, the veteran shot-stopper has failed to keep a single clean sheet across the 2018, 2022, and 2026 tournaments.

With this result, Neuer has surpassed other iconic goalkeepers such as Jorge Campos and Thomas Ravelli, who previously ranked among the worst consecutive runs. While this milestone falls on the goalkeeper, it heavily highlights Germany's ongoing defensive vulnerabilities and lapses that have frequently left their captain exposed across recent editions of the competition.
