Newcastle keen on Switzerland's World Cup standout Johan Manzambi

Newcastle are reportedly interested in a move for Switzerland's breakout World Cup star Johan Manzambi.

The 20-year-old has seen his stock rise significantly at the World Cup, scoring three goals and providing one assist in three games for Switzerland.

According to journalist Keith Downie, Newcastle are monitoring Manzambi, who is valued at 342 million by his club SC Freiburg.

Although he has played as a winger for his country, Manzambi was largely used as a defensive midfielder by Freiburg.

It’s understood that signing a central midfielder is a priority for Newcastle this summer, with Sandro Tonali likely to leave amid interest from Man City and Tottenham.
