Inter ready to pull plug on Curtis Jones pursuit after Liverpool reject fresh bid

Liverpool risk missing out on a lucrative summer transfer windfall, with Serie A holders Inter Milan poised to end their protracted chase for midfield talent Curtis Jones.

The Italian champions first tabled a loan proposal for Jones back in early 2026, which was firmly turned down by then-Liverpool head coach Arne Slot, who wanted to retain the 25-year-old for the second half of the 2025/26 campaign.

Speculation around Jones’ Anfield future has ramped up again following Andoni Iraola’s appointment as Liverpool’s new manager, leaving Inter hopeful they could finally seal a deal ahead of the 2026/27 season.

Reports from The Athletic reveal Liverpool have dismissed Inter’s second summer offer, worth roughly €25 million (£21.7 million). The Reds hold a firm valuation of around £35 million (€40 million) for their homegrown midfielder.

Jones is now entering the final year of his current contract at Anfield, and though he is unlikely to sign an extension with the Merseyside club, Liverpool are refusing to budge on their asking price.

Per Italian football outlet Calciomercato, Inter’s patience has run thin amid the drawn-out negotiations, and the club will not submit any improved offers to land Jones at the San Siro.

Inter’s hierarchy has confirmed this €25m bid marks their absolute maximum valuation, aware that Jones will become a free agent at the start of 2027 and able to sign pre-contract terms elsewhere next summer.

A graduate of Liverpool’s youth academy, Jones has racked up more than 200 senior appearances for the Reds. However, he failed to convince either Jurgen Klopp or Arne Slot that he deserves a regular starting berth. A switch to Italy remains his most viable exit path – but only if Liverpool soften their rigid financial stance.
