Clermont Foot appoint David Guion as new manager

David Guion has been appointed as the new manager of Ligue 2 side Clermont Foot, the club confirmed on Wednesday.

The move comes amid major changes at the club following a takeover agreement between current owners Coresports Alliance and prospective buyers ABL Finance.

Laurent Batlles had initially been linked with the job, but Clermont have instead turned to former Girondins de Bordeaux and Troyes boss Guion.

He replaces previous expectations around Batlles’ appointment as Clermont prepare for pre-season.

Players are set to undergo medical tests this week before returning to training on 29 June ahead of the new Ligue 2 campaign.
