England's Djed Spence appears to snub Thomas Partey handshake ahead of Ghana game
England defender Djed Spence appeared to reject a handshake from criminally charged rapist Thomas Partey.
Footage circulated on social media of England defender Spence appearing to refuse to shake hands with Ghana’s Partey.
Partey, 33, was denied entry into Canada after telling officials he had never been arrested nor charged with a crime.
The former Arsenal midfielder has been formally charged with seven counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.
Partey pleaded not guilty relating to allegations by four different women between 2020 and 2022.
Ahead of the game, the English FA had said that it would depend on the player as to whether they would shake Partey’s hand or not.
Spence appeared to be the only England player not to shake his hand, with fans booing Partey throughout the game.
