Roy Keane hits out at Tuchel hype after Croatia victory

Roy Keane has dismissed the praise being heaped on Thomas Tuchel following England’s dramatic 4-2 victory over Croatia in their opening World Cup Group L fixture.

The Three Lions recovered from being pegged back to 2-2 to produce a dominant second-half display, with several players crediting Tuchel’s half-time team talk for the turnaround.

However, Keane was unimpressed by the growing admiration for Tuchel’s intervention. Speaking on ITV, the former Manchester United captain argued that motivating players and making adjustments at half-time is simply part of a manager’s job.

"Is it a bit of an overreaction to his half-time team talk? What’s he supposed to do? That is his job isn’t it?,” Keane said.

“That’s the manager’s job to give them the information and they go out and produce. That’s what any top manager will do, you get them at half-time and you remind them what they’re supposed to be doing. It’s a bit over the top."
