Luis de la Fuente's side bounced back from their opening draw against Cape Verde in emphatic fashion, dominating Saudi Arabia with a comprehensive 4-0 victory at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. The win puts Spain in a strong position in Group H, showcasing the attacking fluidness that was missing in their tournament opener.
The breakthrough came early in the 10th minute when 18-year-old sensation Lamine Yamal found space inside the box and slotted a brilliant finish into the back of the net. At 18 years and 343 days old, the goal saw him enter an elite historical list alongside Pele and Lionel Messi, making him the youngest player ever to score in both the UEFA Euro and the FIFA World Cup.
Spain maintained their relentless pressure and doubled their advantage in the 21st minute through Mikel Oyarzabal, who finished clinically to reward La Roja's territorial dominance. Just three minutes later, in the 24th minute, Oyarzabal struck again to complete a quick-fire brace following a headed pass from Dani Olmo, leaving the Saudi defense stunned and sending Spain into the half-time break with a commanding 3-0 lead.
Luis de la Fuente made tactical adjustments at the interval, replacing both Lamine Yamal and Mikel Oyarzabal with Yéremy Pino and Ferran Torres to manage workloads. The substitutions did nothing to slow Spain's momentum, as they forced a fourth goal just four minutes into the second half. Following a corner from the left, Marc Cucurella fired a powerful effort toward goal which deflected off goalkeeper Mohammed Al-Owais and Saudi defender Hassan Al-Tambakti for an unfortunate own goal in the 49th minute.
Saudi Arabia, managed by Georgios Donis, attempted to find a way back into the contest by introducing Mohamed Kanno and Abdullah Al-Hamdan, but Spain's midfield anchor Rodri kept total control of the tempo. Further substitutions saw Nico Williams, Mikel Merino, and Fabián Ruiz enter the pitch as Spain comfortably saw out the remainder of the match to secure their first three points of the tournament.
