Lampard set to sign long-term Coventry contract after promotion to the Premier League
Frank Lampard will sign a long-term Coventry contract after leading the side to the Premier League.
Coventry appointed Lampard as head coach in November 2024 on an initial two-and-a-half year deal and the former Chelsea midfielder ended their painful 25-year absence from the Premier League by securing the Championship title last season.
A remarkable 97 goals and a staggering 95 points, Coventry returned to the Premier League with style. This feat has led to talks behind the scenes not only about survival in the top flight but also Lampard’s current deal.
Lampard was linked with the vacant managerial positions at Crystal Palace and Fulham after promotion whilst the Chelsea job also remained a possibility until Xabi Alonso took over.
Now, as per The Mirror and The Telegraph, Lampard is ready to sign new deal at Coventry City with negotiations advancing over the past two days as he commits his future to the club who are clearly desperate to hold on to him.
Coventry open their Premier League campaign with a clash against champions Arsenal before welcoming fellow promoted outfit Hull City to the Coventry Building Society Arena the following weekend.
Lampard is fully committed to the club and the announcement of a new deal should come over the next week in what is welcome news for supporters.
