Barcelona's 326 million option to sign Marcus Rashford from Manchester United expired at midnight on Monday, and the forward has a secret release clause.

Barca have held talks over making Rashford's move permanent after an outstanding loan spell last term. The 28-year-old's desire is to leave Old Trafford and join the Spanish giants, but there has been zero urgency to complete a deal.

Anthony Gordon already arrived in Catalonia as a left wing option for 369m from Newcastle United, although it appears inevitable that Rashford will join him.

That being said, Barca have passed up the chance to sign him for 326m after their option to buy expired on Monday, and now they will have to pay a bigger sum.

According to The Athletic, Rashford has a secret release clause in his contract worth 340m, making any potential deal even more lucrative.

The Englishman has two years left on his 3325,000 per week United deal, and is set to represent his country at another World Cup.

Rashford is in line to start when the Three Lions take on Croatia on Wednesday night, with his future set to be decided once the tournament ends.
