Liverpool double down on Dominik Szoboszlai stance as 'ideal' signing named

Dominik Szoboszlai will be the centrepiece of Andoni Iraola's plans at Liverpool, as long as he stays at Anfield beyond this summer.

Szoboszlai was one of the few exceptional performers for Liverpool during a campaign that ended with a fifth-place finish, and ultimately, Arne Slot's sacking.

The Hungarian international was exemplary in multiple positions, including as a right-back when the Reds were hit hard with injuries to Jeremie Frimpong and Conor Bradley.

For as good as he was in a more defensive role, though, the Merseyside giants suffered for taking him out of midfield, missing his incredible output from central areas.

Szoboszlai produced 13 goals and 12 assists in all competitions and is now set to play a starring role under Iraola as a number eight, with Liverpool intent on holding onto him.

Reds officials are confident of agreeing on a new contract with the 25-year-old, and according to TEAMtalk, Liverpool have no intention of selling their prized asset despite interest from Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Barcelona, and PSG.

The report also adds that Crystal Palace star Adam Wharton is internally seen as an "ideal midfield addition" to complement Ryan Gravenberch and Szoboszlai in the engine room.

That will be music to the ears of many on Merseyside, as Iraola looks to stamp his authority on the Liverpool squad.
