Livramento to MISS England's World Cup due to calf injury as Chelsea's Chalobah steps up
Newcastle United defender Tino Livramento is set to miss the World Cup in what is a huge blow for England.
Teams have until 24 hours before their first group match to make changes to their final 26-man squad and according to The Telegraph and The Mirror, Livramento is set to leave the camp.
Livramento has six England caps to his name, having made his debut under Lee Carsley in November 2024, but it looks like the Newcastle star will have his World Cup dream crushed before the tournament begins for the Three Lions.
Under Eddie Howe at St James’ Park the defender featured on both the right and the left in defence, showing his versatility on several occasions for the side throughout the campaign.
England begin their World Cup bid against Croatia on Wednesday and manager Thomas Tuchel must move quickly to bring in Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah, who is on England's stand-by list.
Livramento missed 36 matches last season with thigh, knee, and hamstring problems so his fitness was always under question before the tournament got underway.
If Chalobah does join the side, he will join defenders Jarrell Quansah, Ezri Konsa, Djed Spence and Dan Burn who can also fill in at left back.
After playing Croatia on Wednesday, England will play Ghana on June 23rd before their final World Cup game in Group L against Panama on June 27th.
