7M - England 3-0 Costa Rica: Anthony Gordon shines as Thomas Tuchel's side cruise to victory in weather-delayed friendly

Thomas Tuchel's England squad completed their 2026 FIFA World Cup preparations with a convincing 3-0 victory over Costa Rica at the Inter&Co Stadium in Orlando, Florida. Despite kick-off being delayed by an hour due to severe local thunderstorms and lightning, the players showed excellent focus and quickly asserted their dominance once the match began.
The breakthrough came just nine minutes into the contest when Declan Rice found the back of the net, executing a precise finish after a sharp cutback from Anthony Gordon. Gordon, who recently signed for Barcelona, remained a constant threat down the left flank and deservedly doubled England's advantage in the 68th minute by converting a penalty following a Costa Rican handball.
Substitute Ollie Watkins rounded off the scoring in the 87th minute, heading home from close range after Morgan Rogers' cross took a deflection. With their final warm-up successfully concluded, England now turn their attention to their World Cup group opener against Croatia on June 17.
