Kennet Eichhorn has reportedly turned down a move to Liverpool as he prefers the switch to German giants Bayer Leverkusen.

Hertha Berlin starlet Eichhorn is still under contract with Hertha until 2029 following an extension last summer, he can leave the capital club early due to a release clause.

The midfielder has been linked with Bayern Munich and Liverpool for a number of weeks as he ponders his future and now, according to transfer guru David Ornstein he has put his faith in a move to Leverkusen.

“Bayer Leverkusen win race for Kennet Eichhorn. Massive interest from Germany + England but 16yo Hertha Berlin midfielder selected #Bayer04 after pursuit led by Simon Rolfes & Kim Falkenberg. Release clause to be activated.”

Eichhorn broke into Hertha’s first team in the 2025-26 campaign, making 17 appearances in the 2. Bundesliga where he has obviously impressed top European sides who are desperate for his signature.

Across all competitions, the youngster has made 20 appearances and scored two goals in 1,358 minutes of action as he helped the side to a 7th place finish.

Eichhorn is regarded as one of Germany’s top midfield prospects but as Liverpool miss out, they must now focus on the first team as new manager Andoni Iraola focuses on replacing Andrew Robertson, Ibrahima Konate and Mohamed Salah over the coming months.
