7M - Bayern Munich Hesitant Over Rashford Wages as Left-Wing Alternatives Emerge

Bayern Munich are tracking Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford but are stalling on a deal due to his staggering £325,000-a-week wage demands. While the German giants are comfortable matching United's modest £34.5 million valuation for the 28-year-old, club executives are reluctant to shatter their salary structure for a player who would not be guaranteed a starting spot in Bavaria.

Rashford spent last season on loan at Barcelona, racking up 14 goals and 14 assists across all competitions. However, the Catalan side declined to trigger their £26 million permanent buy option, opting instead to hijack Bayern's primary summer target by signing England winger Anthony Gordon from Newcastle for £70 million.

With Gordon heading to Spain, Bayern have turned their attention to alternative targets on the left flank. Liverpool’s 17-year-old sensation Rio Ngumoha sits at the top of their wishlist after an impressive, Player-of-the-Match debut for England against New Zealand, though Liverpool are fiercely resisting any sale.

Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli has also emerged as a leading contender. Despite featuring in 53 matches during Arsenal's Premier League-winning campaign, the Brazilian only completed a full 90 minutes nine times. With Arsenal actively hunting for a marquee left-sided attacker, the Gunners may look to cash in on Martinelli to fund their own spending.

While Rashford remains the cheapest option in terms of an upfront transfer fee, his salary expectations are holding up the move. If a compromise cannot be reached, a return to Old Trafford under Michael Carrick remains on the table, though United are eager to clear his heavy wages to net a pure-profit sale on their academy graduate. However, Bayern's financial calculations could shift dramatically if Real Madrid follow through on a rumored £130 million raid for French winger Michael Olise.
