The Brazilian Football Confederation have announced the release of Wesley from their World Cup squad. The right-back suffered an injury against Egypt and was re-evaluated by the medical team with further tests on Sunday.

Wesley was diagnosed with an injury to the adductor muscle of his left thigh, which prevents him from appearing at the 2026 World Cup.

Taking his place is0Ederson, a midfielder from Atalanta, who is expected to arrive in the United States on Monday.

At 26 years old, Ederson has built his career in Italy, playing for Atalanta since 2022. This season, he finished with three assists and three goals in 41 matches and is being heavily linked with a move to0Manchester United this summer.
