Former Premier League player Jota has split from his wife, Ajla Etemovic, following allegations of infidelity. The 34-year-old Spanish midfielder, who played 10 top-flight matches for Aston Villa during the 2019/20 season and previously represented Birmingham City and Brentford, retired from professional football in October 2022. Etemovic, a model who married Jota in 2024 and shares a son named Malik with him, confirmed the end of the marriage during an appearance on the television show De viernes. She revealed that she discovered evidence of an extramarital affair on Jota's phone, describing explicit messages and texts detailing plans to divorce her while she was caring for their child. Jota was previously married to model Jessica Bueno from 2015 until 2022, a relationship that produced two children.
