7M - Lennart Karl Ruled Out Of World Cup Due To Injury
Posted Saturday, June 06, 2026 by 7M Sport

Bayern Munich youngster Lennart Karl will miss the FIFA World Cup 2026 after sustaining an injury during a Germany training session on Friday. The eighteen year old midfielder had travelled with the team to Chicago on Wednesday but was hospitalized following the incident. He was subsequently diagnosed with torn muscle fibres in his left thigh, ruling him out of action just ahead of Germany's final warm up friendly against the USA on Saturday.
Karl earned his spot in Julian Nagelsmann's twenty-six man squad following a stellar debut season with Bayern Munich, where he logged five goals and five assists across twenty-six Bundesliga games. Expressing his deep disappointment, Nagelsmann praised the player's creativity, pace, and personality, noting that Karl still has a long international career ahead of him. To fill the vacant spot in the roster, Germany has called up RB Leipzig's highly rated talent Assan Ouedraogo as a replacement.
