Liverpool in 'strongest position' to sign Yan Diomande despite PSG interest

Liverpool are gunning to sign RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, arguably one of the most promising talents in world football.

Mohamed Salah's imminent departure will leave a huge void in the right channel after destroying Premier League defences during his nine years at Anfield.

But instead of trying to find a like-for-like replacement, the Reds feel Diomande's versatility - capable of playing on the right or left flank - will be a massive asset for them.

Their biggest problem in negotiations for the 19-year-old, though, is Leipzig's unwillingness to sell and PSG's interest in his signature.

Diomande recently admitted that PSG is a team he "admires" as a football fan, and his father supports them, arguably dealing Liverpool a blow in their pursuit of the teenage sensation.

But David Ornstein's latest update suggests that the Champions League winners aren't guaranteed to land him, as he feels the Merseyside giants are in the "strongest position" to negotiate a move with the player.

Leipzig reportedly want a whopping 3104 million for the Ivorian international after watching him dazzle on the domestic and European stage. He produced an eye-watering 23 goal involvements in 36 appearances and will only get even better.
