Liverpool target Yan Diomande names new idol amid €100m transfer talk

Yan Diomande has spoken about the development of his game as Europe’s top clubs circle ahead of a potential blockbuster summer transfer.

The RB Leipzig winger has emerged as one of the Bundesliga’s most dangerous attacking threats, attracting strong interest from Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain.

"My idol before was Cristiano Ronaldo and I also like R9 but I am looking at a lot of players like Vini and (Kylian) Mbappe," Diomande told Sky Sports.

"I am trying to look at players who play the same position as me to try to take the good things and reproduce them on the pitch."

Leipzig are in a commanding position regarding his future, with reports suggesting they will demand around €100 million (386m/$116m) before considering any sale.

The 20-year-old remains under contract until 2030, giving the German side full control over negotiations.

Despite growing speculation, Leipzig managing director Oliver Mintzlaff has publicly insisted that Diomande is expected to stay beyond this summer, stating he will “certainly be with us next season” regardless of external interest.
