Former Arsenal striker Giroud close to new Lille deal
Olivier Giroud is set to extend his stay at Lille despite his current contract expiring this summer.
According to L’Equipe, the 39-year-old is now expected to sign a one-year renewal as the club prepare for a return to the UEFA Champions League.
Giroud featured in 44 matches across all competitions last season, scoring 11 goals, including four in the Europa League.
In Ligue 1, he started half of Lille’s games, with his most recent strike coming in a 4-0 win over Toulouse on April 12.
Speaking at the end of the Ligue 1 season, Giroud hinted at continuing his career beyond 40, while Lille president Olivier Letang praised his “remaining hunger.”
Lille are also in talks over new deals for Thomas Meunier, Nabil Bentaleb and Aissa Mandi as part of broader squad stability planning.
