William Saliba's World Cup dreams could be over after picking up UCL final injury
Arsenal defender William Saliba is reportedly at risk of missing the World Cup after picking up a Champions League final injury.
As per ESPN and football.london, Saliba aggravated his back injury during the Champions League final, putting his World Cup chances in jeopardy.
The defender played all 120 minutes of the showpiece Budapest final and will undergo scans on Monday to discover the seriousness of his injury as fears grow that he will need weeks to recover.
France are in Group I at the World Cup and will face Senegal, Iraq and Norway. Their first game comes on the 16th June, in 15 days time which gives Saliba just over 2 weeks to build hit fitness up and recover in time.
Saliba who has played 31 times for France, is expected to be a key member of their squad under manager Didier Deschamps as they bid to win another World Cup after lifting the trophy in 2018.
Lucas Digne, Malo Gusto, Lucas Hern1ndez, Theo Hern1ndez, Ibrahima Konat9, Jules Kound9, Maxence Lacroix and Dayot Upamecano have also been called up in defense as Deschamps looks over his side who will be praying Saliba is ready to start.
Saliba played 50 of Arsenal's 63 games in all competitions this season and after such a tough schedule, he will be exhausted ahead of this summer’s tournament.
France play Ivory Coast in a warm-up match on Thursday where Saliba is not set to feature as fans wait for more updates on the 25 year old.
