7M - Tyler Fletcher Joins Scotland's World Cup Squad

Manchester United midfielder Tyler Fletcher has earned a surprise call-up to Scotland's World Cup squad, replacing the injured Billy Gilmour. The 19-year-old, who is the son of former Scotland captain Darren Fletcher, was selected by manager Steve Clarke despite not being named on the original standby list.
Fletcher had spent the previous week training with the national team before making his international debut as a second-half substitute during Saturday's 4-1 friendly victory against Curacao. His inclusion comes as a surprise since he has only logged 17 minutes of senior football for Manchester United.
Clarke chose Fletcher over standby midfielders Connor Barron of Rangers, Lennon Miller of Udinese, and Andy Irving of Sparta Prague. The manager admitted it was difficult to deliver the news to the omitted trio but noted that Fletcher had performed exceptionally well in training and during his debut.
Scotland are preparing for their first World Cup appearance in 28 years, which will begin with a match against Haiti.
