Real Madrid have reportedly reignited their interest in Ibrahima Konate now that he looks set to leave Liverpool as a free agent.

Konate, 27, looks set to become the second starting Liverpool defender to leave as a free agent in two years this summer.

Trent Alexander-Arnold made the decision to move to Real Madrid, and it now looks like the Spanish giants are working to pull off another swoop.

According to Diario AS, Real Madrid have reignited their interest in Konate now that he will become a free agent.

They were previously interested in the defender but were put off by several shaky performances throughout 2025-26.

It’s understood that incoming manager Jose Mourinho is pushing the club to sign two new central defenders once he returns.
