7M - Spain Begins World Cup Training Camp As Yamal Recovers

The reigning European champions, Spain, are launching their 2026 FIFA World Cup preparations with a training camp at the Ciudad del Futbol in Las Rozas, Madrid. Under the guidance of head coach Luis de la Fuente, the squad will report this weekend, featuring an open practice session for fans on Sunday.

The initial sessions will proceed without Martin Zubimendi, Mikel Merino, Fabian Ruiz, and David Raya, who are delayed due to their participation in the UEFA Champions League final. These players are set to join the national team by June 4 before the roster travels to the United States for a friendly against Iraq, followed by a final warm up match against Peru in Mexico.

Meanwhile, FC Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal will train individually upon arrival as he rehabilitates a late season injury. The technical staff intends to manage his recovery cautiously, aiming to have him fully fit during the group stage, with internal optimism focused on his availability for the June 21 fixture against Saudi Arabia in Atlanta.
