Chelsea to 'try their luck' for Ibrahima Konate after Liverpool exit confirmed

Chelsea will reportedly 'try their luck' to sign Ibrahima Konate as he approaches the end of his Liverpool contract.

Konate, 27, has been a key player for Liverpool since he joined in 2021, making 183 appearances across all competitions.

The defender is set to leave once his contract expires at the end of the season, however, after the two parties failed to reach an agreement.

According to L’Equipe, several European clubs are interested in signing him, including Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.

Chelsea are hoping to swoop in ahead of them and ‘try their luck’ with Konate as new manager Xabi Alonso eyes a new centre-back.

It’s understood that their lack of European football next season makes the West Londoners outsiders in the race to sign him.
