Konate to leave Liverpool after contract talks collapse
Ibrahima Konate is reportedly set to leave Liverpool when his contract expires this summer after talks over a new deal collapsed.
Despite months of negotiations and previous optimism from both player and club, no agreement has been reached to extend his stay beyond July 1, making him a free agent.
The 27-year-old defender’s departure represents a major setback for Arne Slot’s plans, especially as Liverpool prepare for a period of transition.
His exit is set to come alongside other high-profile departures, including Mohamed Salah and Andrew Robertson, following their key roles in the 2024-25 Premier League title-winning campaign.
Konate had been a consistent presence this season, featuring in 36 of 38 league matches and maintaining his importance at the heart of defence.
Over five years at Anfield, he developed a strong partnership with Virgil van Dijk and established himself as a key figure under both Jurgen Klopp and Slot.
