Jacob Neestrup is to take over the hot seat at Greek outfit Panathinaikos

Panathinaikos have issued a press release where they confirm that they have signed Jacob Neestrup to take over as head coach in a two-year agreement.

Spanish coach Rafa Benitez was sacked on 24 May by Panathinaikos after just seven months in charge, ending the former Liverpool FC and Chelsea FC manager’s spell in Greece.

Benitez took over the Athens club in October on a two-and-a-half-year contract, and managed to guide Panathinaikos to a fourth-place finish in the Greek Super League and the Europa League round of 16.

Neestrup was only unemployed for two months after being sacked at FC Copenhagen. Neestrup led FC Copenhagen to two Danish championship titles, two Danish Cup triumphs, and the round of 16 in the Champions League.
