Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White has revealed what Thomas Tuchel when he told him about missing out on England's World Cup squad

Tuchel’s England squad has raised eyebrows across the country, mostly due to the players that have not been called up.

Harry Maguire, Cole Palmer, Phil Foden, and Gibbs-White, 26, all missed out on a place ahead of this summer’s World Cup.

Gibbs-White can feel particularly hard done by after the attacking midfielder had his most prolific season, scoring 18 goals and providing seven assists for s struggling Forest side.

Speaking to TalkSport, the Forest man has now revealed what Tuchel said to him during that dreaded phone call.

"I got the call on the Thursday like everyone else did, (to know) whether they were going or not,” he said.

"A good, honest conversation. He just said, 'I've got people ahead of you right now. It's nothing to do with you, you've done everything that you could possibly do. I've really enjoyed watching you the past six months, just unfortunately the way it is'.

"I respect him as a manager, I think he's a top, top manager and I really hope the boys go on to do something incredible this summer because they truly deserve it. They truly deserve it.

"He's a top guy and I appreciated the call, he didn't have to call me to tell me I wasn't in the squad, so I appreciate that.

"But for me personally, it's obviously difficult, it's so difficult because you try and put yourself in the best possible situation to go, and I believe I did.

"But, I think the game's all about opinions. I mean, you guys on the show, it's all opinions.

"Some are wrong, some are good, some are bad, and I've been on a lot of people's wrong opinions in my career so far, and I've always got over those hurdles and bounced back from them.

"So, this is just another hurdle, another thing to bounce back from."
