7M - Carrick Secures Permanent Manchester United Managerial Role

Michael Carrick has been officially confirmed as the permanent head coach of Manchester United, signing a contract that runs until 2028. The 44 year old former midfielder took over as interim boss in January following the departure of Ruben Amorim. At that time, the team occupied sixth place and had been knocked out of cup competitions.

During his temporary tenure, Carrick successfully restored squad morale and guided United to a guaranteed third place finish, securing Champions League qualification. Under his leadership, the club achieved 11 victories and three draws from 16 matches in all competitions, starting with consecutive wins over Manchester City and Arsenal.

The decision, recommended by football director Jason Wilcox, received formal approval from owners Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the Glazer family. Wilcox praised Carrick for fostering a positive dressing room culture and aligning with the traditional values of the club. Key squad members, including Bruno Fernandes and Kobbie Mainoo, also publicly expressed strong backing for their manager.

Carrick, who spent 12 years playing for United, expressed immense pride in continuing to lead the club and stated his clear objective to challenge for major honors once again.
