Harry Maguire set to be excluded from England's World Cup squad

Man United defender Harry Maguire is reportedly set to miss out on a place in Thomas Tuchel's final World Cup squad.

The 33-year-old has been a mainstay for England since the 2018 World Cup, but this is now the second major tournament he'll miss out on after the 2024 European Championship.

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Maguire is now set to be a surprise exclusion from this summer’s England squad.

It’s understood that the centre back is ‘shocked’ by Tuchel’s decision not to take him following an impressive season at club level.

Maguire has reestablished himself as a key figure for Man United under Michael Carrick, starting 18 of his 22 Premier League appearances.

“I am shocked.0I was confident I could have played a major part this summer for my country after the season I’ve had”.

“I’ve been left gutted by the decision. I wish the players all the best”, he told TalkSport.
