Atletico Madrid agree to sign Wolves star Joao Gomes as transfer fee revealed

Joao Gomes will play his final game for Wolves against Burnley on Sunday.

Gomes has been incredible for the Old Gold since joining from Flamengo for just 315 million in January 2023.

A ball-winning machine in the middle and a driving force in attack, the 25-year-old has arguably become one of the division's best defensive midfielders.

Unfortunately, Wolves' relegation means losing some of their greatest talents, including Gomes, who is closing in on a move to Atletico Madrid.

According to Sky Sports, the Spanish giants have agreed a 339m (€45m) fee and work is ongoing to make him an Atletico player once the transfer window re-opens next month.

Gomes will go from potentially playing Championship football with Wolves to Champions League football next season, a consolation after missing out on Carlos Ancelotti's Brazil squad.
