7M - Kompany Praises Neuer Following New Bayern Munich Deal

Vincent Kompany expressed total confidence that Bayern Munich possesses Germany's finest goalkeeper after Manuel Neuer finalized a one-year contract extension. The 40-year-old veteran committed his future to the club through the 2026-27 season, ensuring his remarkable career with Bayern will extend into a 16th year. Backup goalkeeper Sven Ulreich also signed a similar extension.

This contract announcement coincides with growing speculation regarding Neuer's potential return to Julian Nagelsmann's national squad for the upcoming World Cup. Although Neuer stepped away from international football after Euro 2024 with 124 caps and a 2014 World Cup title, recent reports indicate he might be named in Germany's preliminary 55-man roster. Addressing the rumors, Kompany noted the immense pressure on Nagelsmann before adding that Bayern simply has the best German goalkeeper.

Neuer revealed that he took his time with the crucial decision but feels incredibly positive about staying. Having already captured 24 major trophies with the club, the veteran stated he can still contribute significantly to a squad capable of defeating any opponent.

Meanwhile, Bayern secured the Bundesliga championship on April 19 and will conclude their league campaign against Koln before shifting focus to next week's DFB-Pokal final against Stuttgart. Kompany demanded a strong finish to the season from his players, emphasizing that the standards remain exceptionally high as they plan for the future.
