Xabi Alonso is reportedly stalling on taking the Chelsea job just in case Liverpool decide to part ways with Arne Slot.

Alonso, 44, is the clear favourite to take the Chelsea job, with several reports suggesting that the two parties are in talks.

According to the I Paper, however, the Spaniard is in no rush to make a decision, just in case Liverpool decide to sack Slot.

It’s been widely reported that Liverpool have every intention of sticking with Arne Slot for the foreseeable future, despite a disappointing season.

Chelsea are looking to have a new manager in place before the World Cup, and like Alonso, aren’t putting all of their eggs in one basket.

The West London club are also keeping tabs on Fulham’s Marco Silva and Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola in their new manager search.
