FSG face "big decision" over Slot as he could be sacked following Chelsea result

Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group are set to make a decision on manager Arne Slot after yet another poor result.

Liverpool's dismal season continued as they dropped points against Chelsea on Sunday afternoon in a 1-1 draw.

When youngster Rio Ngumoha was withdrawn in favour of Alexander Isak, boos rang out. Later, after the final whistle, boos erupted once more as fans made their voices heard for Slot who looked clueless against the Blues.

As pressure grows on Slot, who reports suggest could be sacked as the Reds struggle for a Champions League spot at the end of the season, journalist James Pearce revealed that the board are now ready to make a decision.

“FSG will imminently face a similarly big decision over the fate of Arne Slot. Everything up until now has pointed to them standing by the Dutchman. There is sympathy with what he’s had to contend with this season — from the loss of Diogo Jota last July to the succession of crushing injury setbacks.

“Unlike Rodgers, Slot is a Premier League title-winner and should still salvage Champions League qualification from the wreckage of this campaign.

“But the mutinous mood inside Anfield on Saturday sent a clear message to the hierarchy about the scale of the unrest. It felt like this was the day when patience truly snapped. A Liverpool manager hadn’t faced this level of dissent on home turf since the final throes of Roy Hodgson’s tenure in late 2010.”

Despite spending almost 3450M in the summer transfer window, Liverpool look much worse than last season. Slot’s head looks to be on the chopping block at the moment and that won’t change until the side get back to their old selves which looks impossible at the moment.
