Pep Guardiola says the Premier League title race is no longer entirely in Manchester City’s control despite their convincing 3-0 victory over Brentford.

The Citizens responded strongly against the Bees following their lackluster 3-3 draw at Everton that left them relying on Arsenal results in the race for the title.

"It was in our hands, now it's not,” Guardiola said after the match per Premier League website.

“We didn't do perfectly against Everton but today we come back, Wednesday against Crystal Palace, try to do our job and wait.

“Everton was the real proof, 1-3 down, played incredible first half, gave it away but it's football. It happens, it's about how you react, I'm really pleased with the way we've done it."

Guardiola also reserved praise for visiting Brentford, describing them as one of the toughest opponents in the league because of their dangerous transitions.

"Brentford are really, really tough opponents, the season has proven (that) - the transition, set-pieces, throw-ins,” he continued.

“We suffer in the first minutes but after that play a really good game on the left in the first half, (on) both sides in the second-half.

“We put more players in the box second half, first half it was not and that's why we suffered with the final product. In the end, great result and we keep going."
