Chelsea issue update as Jesse Derry hospitalised after head injury

Chelsea have issued an update on Jesse Derry after the teenager was taken to hospital during Monday’s Premier League match against Nottingham Forest.

The academy graduate, on his full debut, was involved in a worrying collision causing a lengthy stoppage at Stamford Bridge.

The club said it was a precaution after a serious first-half incident, reassuring supporters after full-time about him.

"Chelsea FC can confirm Jesse Derry has been taken to hospital as a precaution following his first-half substitution during today’s Premier League game against Nottingham Forest. Jesse is conscious, talking and undergoing precautionary checks. We wish him a speedy recovery and thank the medical staff for their swift response," the statement read.
