Sassuolo 2-0 AC Milan: Ten-Man Rossoneri Fall To Berardi And Lauriente Strikes

Sassuolo defeated ten-man AC Milan 2-0 in Serie A Matchday 35 at the Mapei Stadium in Reggio Emilia on Sunday, local time.

Domenico Berardi opened the scoring early, converting in the fifth minute to give the hosts a swift advantage. AC Milan's task became harder in the 24th minute when defender Fikayo Tomori was dismissed after receiving a second yellow card, reducing the visitors to ten men.

Despite being a player down, Milan held firm defensively through the remainder of the first half, limiting Sassuolo's opportunities and keeping the score at 1-0 at the break.

Sassuolo doubled their lead just two minutes into the second half, with Armand Lauriente finishing clinically in the 47th minute to make it 2-0.

Indonesian international defender Jay Idzes, featuring for Sassuolo, was forced off after 40 minutes due to injury and replaced by Woyo Coulibaly.

AC Milan pushed forward in search of a consolation goal, but Sassuolo goalkeeper Stefano Turati remained untroubled as the hosts maintained their defensive shape. Manager Fabio Grosso's side saw out the match comfortably to secure all three points.

The result lifts Sassuolo to ninth place in the Serie A standings with 49 points from 35 matches. For AC Milan, the defeat confirms they cannot win the Serie A title this season, leaving them third with 67 points from the same number of games.
