7M - Kai Havertz injury concern grows ahead of World Cup

Arsenal forward Kai Havertz was forced off during his team's 1-0 Premier League victory over Newcastle United at Emirates Stadium on April 25, 2026. The Germany international, 26, suffered an apparent muscular issue in his upper leg and was substituted in the 34th minute, with Viktor Gyokeres taking his place.

Havertz appeared visibly distressed as he left the pitch, reportedly in tears, raising concerns about the severity of the setback. Manager Mikel Arteta later confirmed both Havertz and teammate Eberechi Eze, who also exited with an injury, would undergo assessment for muscular problems.

This latest injury adds to Havertz's challenging season. He missed significant time after sustaining a knee injury during Arsenal's season opener against Manchester United in August, returning in January before another muscle problem sidelined him through February. Across 19 appearances totaling 835 minutes, he has contributed five goals and three assists.

With the FIFA World Cup scheduled to begin in less than two months, the timing of this injury presents a major concern for both Arsenal and the German national team. Havertz, a former Bayer Leverkusen player, remains a key figure in Germany's attacking plans, and his fitness will be closely monitored in the coming days.
