Paris Saint-Germain's Lucas Beraldo celebrates scoring their third goal against Angers

Paris Saint-Germain moved six points clear at the top of the Ligue 1 table with an eighth win in nine games, defeating Angers SCO 3-0 at Stade Raymond-Kopa.

Despite making several changes ahead of their UEFA Champions League semi-final in midweek, PSG got themselves in front early on as Lee Kang-in rounded Herve Koffi to tap home after the goalkeeper had made an initial close-range save from Achraf Hakimi.

The flying Moroccan was particularly dangerous in the first half, seeing another shot fly wide before testing Koffi again with a curling free-kick.

Senny Mayulu then doubled PSG’s advantage with a tidy finish after he was played through by Lucas Beraldo, and Bradley Barcola could have truly put the game to bed before half-time, but his chip was cleared off the line.

Angers offered little in response, but Amine Sbai did have a goal disallowed for an offside in the build-up.

Match momentum

It did not take long into the second half for PSG to net a third, though, with the provider of the second goal, Beraldo, heading in Lee’s inswinging corner.

Prosper Peter then had a chance to pull one back on the hour mark, but he poked wide when in a promising position.

Goncalo Ramos also found the wrong side of the post with a placed shot, as PSG continued to threaten. The Portuguese was then sent off for a second bookable offence after a late challenge on Koffi, but by then, it was too little, too late for Angers.

Key match stats

Jacques Ekomie’s wayward strike that sailed well over the bar summed up the hosts’ attacking flaws, meaning they have now scored just once in five home matches, and are winless in five in total (D2, L3) - their longest run of the season.

Still, just one more point from their remaining three games will guarantee safety for another season, while PSG have the much loftier ambitions of defending their title crown, and with a 20th straight head-to-head victory, they look on course to do so.
