Le Bris reflects on heavy defeat to Forest: 'It hurts and it is painful'
Regis Le Bris admitted Sunderland were punished for dropping below their usual standards after losing 5-0 to Nottingham Forest.
The decimation marked the Black Cats’ heaviest-ever home loss at the venue. Trai Hume’s own goal handed Forest an early lead before the visitors struck three more times in a devastating six-minute spell during the first half.
Speaking after the match, Le Bris explained what went wrong against the City Ground giants.
“It hurts and it is painful. We got punished during the first half with a big difference in intensity,” he said.
“We felt after 15 minutes that the momentum shifted - they were more intense and more pragmatic.
“We have to digest what has happened tonight. We will work hard to show that we are a better team than we did this evening.
“It is about standards, it is about working hard and being humble,” he continued.
“If your standards drop then teams in the Premier League will hurt you.
“You need to work hard and remain humble at all times.
“If you drop your standards just a bit then you can really feel how intense and demanding this league is.”
