Man City and Real Madrid ready to make major summer bids for Chelsea's Enzo Fernandez
Manchester City and Real Madrid are ready to enter the race for Chelsea's Enzo Fernandez this summer.
The Argentina international recently sparked controversy after making comments about a future move to Real Madrid, stating that he would love to live in the city in the future.
Now, according to The Athletic, Manchester City and Madrid have entered the race to sign Fernandez who seems keen to leave the side who look to miss out on Champions League qualification.
The 25-year-old joined Chelsea in a 3106m move from Benfica, and he has gone on to make 163 appearances for the Blues where he is a pivotal part of their midfield.
Having sacked Liam Rosenior earlier this week, Chelsea are without a head coach and may rely on interim manager Calum McFarlane for the rest of the campaign which may hurt their chances of holding on to Fernandez who could be drawn elsewhere.
Fernandez was back in the team and wearing the captain's armband just a week after being dropped by Rosenior for "crossing a line" with his comments about Madrid which have clearly interested the Spanish giants.
With Fernandez under contract until 2032, he could cost over 3100M this summer which won’t dissuade City or Madrid in what could be one of the biggest deals of the summer.
TalkSPORT reports that the midfielder’s agent Javier Pastore is now exploring potential options, with a Chelsea exit not off the cards despite their lack of Champions League football.
