Bayern Munich legend Uli Hoeness has highlighted ongoing ankle issues affecting England captain Harry Kane, describing them as fundamental and far from trivial. Despite the physical challenges, Hoeness affirmed that Kane has justified Bayern's investment of over one hundred million pounds since his 2026 arrival, praising both his goal output and leadership qualities.
The thirty two year old striker recently became the first English player to reach fifty goals in a top flight season since Aston Villa's Tom Waring in nineteen thirty one. However, Three Lions supporters may worry about his durability at this summer's World Cup, given injury setbacks at previous major tournaments.
Hoeness told the Auf eine weiss blaue Tasse podcast that Kane often endures heavy challenges but consistently returns to action. England manager Thomas Tuchel will be hoping his captain remains available as Bayern pursue a treble of Bundesliga, DFB Pokal and Champions League honors.
Kane's England tournament record shows mixed results: zero goals at Euro 2016, six at World Cup 2018, four at Euro 2020, two plus three assists at World Cup 2022, and three at Euro 2024, with runner up finishes in the last two European Championships.
Hoeness also offered criticism of former Bayern coach Tuchel, recalling an incident where Tuchel questioned whether Munich born defender Josip Stanisic spoke German. Tuchel departed the club in 2024 following internal disputes, a season that saw Bayern surrender the Bundesliga title to Xabi Alonso's Bayer Leverkusen.
