Simon: The focus must be Athletic Bilbao - not World Cup

Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper Unai Simon insists now isn't the time to discuss World Cup places.

Ahead of their midweek clash with Osasuna, Simon says the focus must be on the LaLiga, with Athletic six points above the dropzone.

Simon said, "We have enough to worry about here just winning and training well without thinking about what might come later with the World Cup.

"We all have it in mind, but it would be disrespectful to talk about the World Cup with the pressure we're under here."

The Spain international insisted that “now we have no choice but to focus on Osasuna, a match we absolutely must win.”

Simon added, “Throughout the season we've lacked intensity. Today was different. Our game plan involved applying good pressure. In the locker room, we talked about going all out.

"If you can't win, you have to give it your all.”
