Carlos Queiroz has been named the new Ghana manager ahead of this summer's World Cup campaign.

The Black Stars decided to part ways with Otto Addo late in March following some disappointing results against Germany and Austria.

Ghana have now confirmed that Queiroz, 73, will take charge for the upcoming World Cup, although they haven’t specified how long his contract is.

Queiroz will participate in his fifth World Cup as manager, having been with Portugal in 2010, and 2014, 2018 and 2022, all with Iran.

Ghana Football Association (GFA) announced the appointment in a statement, saying: “The GFA Executive Board, together with all stakeholders, has appointed Carlos Queiroz as head coach of the national team.

“The former coach of Real Madrid, Manchester United, Portugal and Iran will lead Ghana in the World Cup.”
