Bayern Munich winger Jamal Musiala has no intention of stepping away from the 2026 World Cup and continues to enjoy the full backing of manager Vincent Kompany.

Earlier this week, German legend Oliver Kahn suggested the 23-year-old could consider missing the tournament citing concerns over his form since returning from a serious injury sustained at last summer’s Club World Cup.

Speaking after scoring in Bayern’s 5-0 away victory over FC St. Pauli, the Belgian reacted to Khan’s remarks.

“He’s getting there,” Kompany said. “I’d ask you to be patient with him, but he’s definitely on his way. Today was a good step forward for him.

“I saw Oliver Kahn in training once. It was incredible. He would have travelled to the World Cup with a broken arm and a broken foot. That’s a compliment.”
